"Michael", a biopic about Michael Jackson, is officially happening.

And yep, about Music. Without any doubt, they have to include in biopic the next famous MJ's songs:

1. Ben
2. I'l Be There
3. I Want You Back
4. Don't Stop Till You Get Enough
5. Rock With You
6. Off The Wall
7. Thriller
8. Beat It
9. Billie Jean
10. Human Nature
11. Smooth Criminal
12. Man In The Mirror
13. Bad
14. Heal The World
15. Black Or White
16. Will You Be there
17. They don't care about us
18. Stranger In Moscow
19. Earth Song
20. Smile
21. You Are Not Alone
22. Ghosts
23. Unbreakable
24. You Rock My World
25. Speechless

It would be awesome, if there will be a scenes, where Michael makes a public protest against Sony, holding signboard "Sony Sucks", and it all will happen to Unbreakable song. It will be sequence of Michael protest against Sony without any dialogue with just Unbreakable song playing.... That would be so cool🤤🤤😎

You're not gonna get that Richard.

In the wider scheme of things the sony sucks campaign is minor. They will highlight some important moments in his life I'd imagine., Childhood trauma , time with J5 , then skip to off the wall period briefly before doing some of the big budget stuff with Thriller , Motown performance, Grammy success, pepsi burn leading to addictions etc , skin changes/plastic surgery , brief glimpse into Bad and tour then prob straight to allegations, relationship with LMP and then 2nd trial before This is is announcement and death.

The film needs to have a real emotional connection. If it's too fast paced it will lose some of the heart.

25 songs * 4 mins is already 100 minutes of a possible 150 minutes (max. 2,5 hours) of screen time just with songs.

I really hope that they include a part of the invincible era and album with sony sucks, but doubt they will do they since the estate still has a relationship with sony. dont think they will appriciate it.

Since Prince is working on the Biopic, I trust him, so I think he is going to do a good job.

Why do you think that 2.5 is max? First of all, max is 3 hours. Secondly they don't have to include full songs, lol. Are you insane? Snippets would be enough

It can't all be vanilla, otherwise it would receive criticism for being too safe (it will regardless)

I want to see Jaafar struggle with vitiligo, his changing appearance, drug use. All that controversial stuff.

It's gonna take one hell of a performance though from a novice actor. I think he will either be poor or absolutely incredible, no in-between.

3 hours might be the max but I dont think most people want to watch a 3-hour long biopic tbh. For me, I think 2,5 hours is already relatively long for a movie. But that is for the producers to think what the optimal length is for the Biopic. One thing is certain, arguably the (one of the) most important things for the estate is to earn the investment back, so the have to estimate what the public would want.

Snippets would be logical, still think 25 is a lot of songs. But we will see.

I didn't understand a WORD, that you said. please. make it easy
Those are movies about Tina Turner, John Lennon, & Mozart. It's fairly common for biopics to add things that didn't really happen for dramatic purposes or to make the movie more entertaining.

I'm excited for it and hope that it generates a lot of money.
I don't know. It's more difficult today for non-IP movies (Marvel Comics, Mission Impossible) to make much money at the box office. For other types of movies, a lot of the audience will just wait for it to come to streaming, DVD, or they will pirate them. A IP movie is more likely to open big because people want to see the movie before it gets spoiled on the internet. There isn't really much to spoil with a biopic.

The queen movie made money. MJ can easily equal that. I'm thinking biggest biopic of all time, four stars, cinema.

Bohemian Rhapsody was close to joining the billion club worldwide. It is by very far the biggest biopic in the history of biopics. As big as Michael is I even doubt it can come close to that level. It will depend on a bunch of factors: in your face advertising, good acting, no competition from a big IP, decent reviews. I think positive reviews are a bridge too far because of the Estate’s involvement and Michael’s history. I think it should tackle the controversies head on and in a believable way or the movie will not be a success but I doubt hard questions will be asked in the film.
A watered down biopic should be avoided.

The Michael biopic just MUST to show us the next famous moments of his life:

1. Little Michael suddenly begins to dance, showing everybody that's his destiny to become a performer
2. J5 performance, when little Michael wore that purple hat
3. Michael being taken to strip clubs by his Dad
4. Michael being beaten by his dad (window accident would be enough)
5. Michael teenager abused because of his nose and puberty
6. OTW creation, some performances, first time he performed "Ankle Breaker"
7. First surgery, Michael started to be addicted to his nose appearance
8. Thriller creation, famous scene when Michael's car got crashed and he invented BJ melody
9. The 1983 performance, first moonwalk, and (the most important) famous scene with crying Michael after the performance and little kid saying him that he did everything perfect
10. Shooting of Thriller clips
11. Pepsi accident, vitiligo rise, first time MJ being addicted to the medicines
12. Another surgery, Michael's face turned into "Bad" face, Bad album creating process
13. Shooting Bad clips, Bad tour, Michael first time being called King Of Pop
14. Dangerous creation, Neverland with kids, tabloid problems
15. Dangerous clips shooting, Dangerous tour, Macaulay Culkin)
16. 1993 accident, deposition, court process
17. Michael in Russia, Michael, inventing SIM
18. History creation, History tour, Lisa Presley
19. Ghosts, breakup with LP, first kids were born
20. Invincible creation, Rodney Jerkins going to the trash can to make new sounds

21. Michael and Sony, starting their war
22. 2001 performance, Elizabeth Tailor, sleepy Michael
23. Shooting clips for Invincible, Michael being angry, Michael goes public against Sony
24. "I don't want do die in my sleep" moment (Fall again recording)
24. 2003 accident, Michael being totally angry at Chandler kid
25. 2005 court process, Michael begins to lose weight
26. MJ travels around the world, recording of new songs
27. 2007 year, Will.i.am, Cascio house
28. This Is It announcement, reherseals,
29. Death

Call Zach Snyder because that would take many hours.

If all goes well it will be a huge success. I expect teenagers will want to see the film as well as parents so that’s a huge demography but if the reviews state that the film is an insult to for example the “victims” then I doubt it will be a success.
A major pressure falls on Jaafar though, Freddie was portrayed convincingly as well as Elvis. It remains to be seen the boy is a great actor. The last thing we want is a performance that makes a joke out of Michael’s array of emotions.

The film should also avoid the stereotypical biopic tropes. Michael’s life was a fantasy both in the real world as in his head so I hope there is vibrance in the script, it should be playful: colorful, dream sequences, animated scenes, non linearity etc. Don’t make it a dry experience.

I hope it will be treated as a huge blockbuster because if there is one biopic deserving of this treatment it is this one. Michael’s story is a blessing to do for creative people imo.

Do you guys think they might release a new single or soundtrack with the Biopic, a lot of movies/biopics have one song like 'representing' it.

With all the new traffic, I think the estate are going to miss the train to release a whole album, but one song as a single could be a cool idea.

I'd say

That was a fluke. No other biopic made nowhere near that. Before that, the most successful biopic of any kind was NWA's Straight Outta Compton. The Queen movie also came out pre-Covid. The box office in general has still not returned to pre-Covid levels, and some theaters in the USA closed down permanently. It didn't help that when many movie theaters were shut down for the pandemic, Warner Brothers put all of their new theatrical movies on HBO Max for no extra charge. Disney+ did that with some of their movies too. Scarlett Johansson sued Disney (and won) for that because they did that with her movie Black Widow. Black Widow was heavily pirated, and Scarlett had profit participation as it was supposed to be released to theaters first instead of Disney+. The theatrical window is much shorter now than it was when Bohemian Rhapsody was released. A lot of movies go to streaming/cable in around 45 days or less. So people are now used to "free" movies. Streaming is also much cheaper for a family or group of people.

Yeah but it's Michael Jackson. Like that name literally sells even when you don't expect it. This Is It still has not been surpassed; Cirque De Soleil's biggest show is still The Immortal Tour. The musical is the biggest act on Broadway rn, has been throughout this LN Era. So I can't imagine why this would fall through. But it would probably be in 2025 that it came out, once this other stuff is settled in court with a positive outcome hopefully.

Sure, fingers crossed I’d say. All the ingredients are there we just need a couple of good cooks and a good outcome of the new trial. If that trial becomes anything like the Depp/Heard trial, in favor of Michael, then all bets are off for the biopic. It would be typical for his career that his biopic also breaks records.
