"You are the KING"

#TopicOfToday is #SpotlightSong where we just put one song in the spotlight obviously as some songs just get the boot and are driven in a dark corner so it is our mission to drag them back into the light where they can shine and earn their place in #HIStory. Read more to find out which song is in the #Spotlight today.

"He got kicked in the back. He say that he needed that. He hot willed in the face. Keep daring to motivate. He say one day you will see. His place in world history. He dares to be recognized. The fires deep in his eyes. How many victims must there be slaughtered in vain across the land and how many struggles must there be before we choose to live the prophet's plan. Everybody sing..."

Every day create your HIStory! It's about time to put this song in the #Spotlight don't you think so? Although it's the title song of "HIStory: Past, Present and Future, Book I, released on June 18 in 1995 as the 9th studio album through Epic Records, it was not released as a single until July 1997 nicely 'hidden' within the single of "HIStory/Ghosts".
The song "HIStory" was originally written and composed by Michael Jackson, James Harris III and Terry Lewis in 1995. It was the 13th track on "HIStory". The song sampled several musical compositions including "Beethoven Lives Upstairs" and "The Great Gate of Kiev" from Pictures at an Exhibition. You can even hear a quote from an interview with a young Michael Jackson from 1970 stating "I don't sing it if I don't mean it".

The Audio quotes sampled for "HIStory" are the "Charles Lindbergh Report" by Lowell Thomas, a report on Hank Aaron, "Robert Kennedy Eulogy" by Ted Kennedy, "Farewell to Baseball" by Lou Gehrig, "Greetings to the Children of England" by Princess Elizabeth and Princess Margaret, quotes from Muhammad Ali, Thomas Edison, and Dr. Martin Luther King Jr.'s "I Have a Dream". I have said it over and over again that the 'real beauty' of an MJ song is that it's not just a POP song you singalong with but a #HIStorylesson hidden within the melody.

If you know your #HIStory, then you know there are 2 different versions of the song. The orginal one is on "HIStory" obviously and released in 1995 and then it got a 2nd life on "Blood on the dancefloor" as a remix by Tony Moran. I like them both as they both really carry the message of 'create your HIStory' while the Original one focus more on the #HIStoryLesson, the 'upbeat' one appeals more to the younger generation. Yeash, I have to admit I do love the Remix more as it's more 'digestable' lol.

No seriously, I used to have "Tony Moran's HIStory lesson" on my walkman and it would be my 'get up and go' song to start the long working day back in 1997 though I do like the orginal one with all the #HistorySamples. It's indeed an Inspirational song as the lyrics just make you do the impossible and in that way create your own legacy and I personally think that the remix didn't 'devalue' or 'ruin' the original song as it was the remix that still resonates within me today. "You are the KING"

Anyway, it's a song worthy for the #HIStoryBooks so go ahead and #CreateYourHIStory.
